.SYNOPSIS...
High temperatures will cool a few degrees for today and Saturday,
warm slightly on Sunday, then gradually cool through the middle
of next week with high temperatures next Wednesday around average
for the deserts and as much as 5 to 10 degrees below average for
the valleys. Night and morning coastal low clouds will spread into
the western valleys late each night.

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

Morning update...

This morning`s coastal eddy allowed for appreciable inland
intrusion of the marine layer, which filled in about 15 miles
inland. The marine layer clouds have been pretty slow to clear,
but have been efficiently scattering over the last hour. Beaches
may keep the cloud cover into the afternoon hours with some spots
not clearing at all today. Otherwise, the main highlight today is
that we are on the back-end of the heat wave, with many locations
about 5 to 10 degrees cooler than yesterday, while the deserts
stay hot.

From previous discussion...

.SHORT TERM...
High temperatures will cool a few degrees for today and Saturday
with high temperatures on Saturday a few to around 5 degrees below
average for the coast and valleys and around 5 degrees above
average for the deserts. High temperatures on Saturday will range
from the lower 70s near the coast to the mid 80s to mid 90s for
the Inland Empire with 108 to 112 for the lower deserts. High
temperatures on Sunday will be slightly warmer.

There is a weak coastal eddy early this morning. Satellite imagery
shows widespread low clouds over the coastal waters extending
inland across all of the Orange County coastal plain and inland
in San Diego County across about the western two-thirds of the
valleys. The marine layer will deepen to around 2000 feet this
morning with low clouds spreading into far western and far
southern portions of the Inland Empire.

Slow deepening of the marine layer will continue into Saturday
morning with greater coverage of low clouds for the Inland Empire
early Saturday. The marine will decrease in depth slightly for
Saturday night and Sunday with coastal low clouds spreading into
the western valleys with less coverage for the Inland Empire.

&&

.LONG TERM...
Days will be gradually cooler for Monday through Wednesday with
Wednesday high temperatures around average for the deserts and as
much as 5 to 10 degrees below average for the valleys. High
temperatures for next Wednesday will range from around 70 near
the coast to the 80s and lower 90s for the Inland Empire with 105
to 110 for the lower deserts. The marine layer will be around 2000
feet deep with night and morning coastal low clouds spreading
into the western valleys late each night.

.AVIATION...

build up to 15 miles inland with high terrain obscured in
clouds/fog.
